Help Center Membership Management: Getting in and your account Your first sign-in (the invitation)

Your first sign-in (the invitation)

The invitation e-mail

When an owner or admin invites you, you get an e-mail:

  • Subject: "Prescripta Membership Management: your account is ready"
  • It says an account was made for you on the membership and prescription portal your clinic uses.
  • It shows Your username (your e-mail address).
  • It shows Your first-time sign-in code in large numbers.
  • A Sign in button that opens the portal.
  • A note: "The code works for 7 days; after that, ask your clinic administrator to send a new one."
  • The e-mail never contains patient information.

The first-time code is a temporary password. You use it only once.

Step 1: Sign in with the code

  1. Click Sign in in the e-mail (or go to the portal yourself).
  2. In Email, type your e-mail address.
  3. In Password, type the first-time sign-in code from the e-mail.
  4. Click Sign in.

Step 2: Choose your own password

You see: "Choose a new password (12+ characters, upper, lower, number, symbol)."

  1. Type your new password in New password. Use Show to check it.
  2. Click Continue.

If it is too simple you see "Password must be at least 12 characters with upper, lower, number and symbol."

Step 3: Set up your authenticator app

You see: "Set up two-factor authentication." It tells you to open Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or 1Password on your phone, tap + / Scan a QR code, and point the camera at the picture.

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone if you do not have one (any standard app works, including Apple Passwords).
  2. In the app, tap + (or Add account) and choose Scan a QR code.
  3. Point your phone at the QR picture on the screen. A new entry appears in the app with a 6-digit number.
  4. Type that number in Enter the 6-digit code the app now shows.
  5. Decide on Trust this browser (see below).
  6. Click Verify and finish.

Can't scan? Click Show the setup key. A long code appears in groups of four letters and numbers. In your app choose "Enter a setup key", type that code, and pick time-based. The account name to use is the product name. Click Hide the setup key to hide it again.

While the picture is being made you see "Generating QR code…" for a moment.

The QR picture is made inside your browser. The secret it holds is not sent anywhere else.

Step 4: Pick a clinic (only if you belong to more than one)

See "Picking a clinic" below.

After that

From now on you sign in with your e-mail, your own password, and the 6-digit code from your app.

If you were already a user somewhere else

If your e-mail already has a login for this product (for example you work at another clinic that uses it), you do not get a first-time code. You get a short e-mail instead:

  • Subject: "You've been added to [clinic name]"
  • It says you were added as your role, and to sign in with the e-mail, password and authenticator you already use.
  • If you belong to more than one clinic, you will be asked which one to open.

Questions people ask

Q: My invitation e-mail never came.

A: Check spam or junk. Search for "your account is ready". If it is not there, ask your admin to check the e-mail address on Admin → Users and click Resend invite.

Q: My first-time code doesn't work.

A: It only works for 7 days. Your admin can see Invite expired on the Users page. Ask them to click Resend invite. That sends a new code and a new 7 days. The old code stops working.

Q: Do I type the code in the Password box?

A: Yes. On your very first sign-in the code from the e-mail goes in the Password box.

Q: Which authenticator app should I use?

A: Any standard one: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Apple Passwords and others. Text-message (SMS) codes are not offered.

Q: Can I skip the authenticator?

A: No. Every login needs it. The only thing your clinic can relax is Trust this browser (password only on a trusted browser for a set number of days).

Q: I closed the page in the middle of setup.

A: Sign in again with your e-mail and the password you chose in Step 2. The portal shows the QR step again. If the first-time code is needed and no longer works, ask your admin for Resend invite.

Q: I scanned the QR code but the app shows a different name.

A: That is fine. Use the 6-digit number under the entry you just added.

Q: My code keeps getting rejected right after I scanned.

A: Type the number the app shows right now, not one that is about to change. If it still fails, check your phone's clock is set to automatic time. Authenticator numbers depend on the correct time.

Q: I already work at another clinic. Why didn't I get a temporary password?

A: Because you already have a login. One e-mail is one login. You were simply added to the new clinic. Use your existing password and authenticator.
